I had no problem upgrading using Update Manager and then sudo
do-release-upgrade. It took about one hour overall and I had to intervene
only 3 times to decide yes or no to something. It all went very smoothly from
the time of downloading an upgrade tool to the updating of all the packages.
So, it is possible to upgrade in that way without any problems. I'm using a
Samsung netbook,
