They do. It depends on the market they are offered to.
I can find a lot of large screen notebooks without a preinstalled system (actually they have FreeDos) in my local shops. Most laptops are without a system (76%), some with Windows (18%), and a few with Ubuntu (6%). The bad thing is Asus does recommend Windows, and most likely doesn't care about free software compatibility.
