I never knowingly installed libdvdcss. I searched in Synaptic for the
libdvdcss package, but there is no package called libdvdcss in the repos.
There is a package called libdvdread4.
The package info of libdvdread4 says
>libdvdread probes for libdvdcss at runtime and if found, will use it to
decrypt sections of the DVD as necessary. libdvdcss needs to be installed
from
third-party repositories (see README.Debian), it's not included in Debian.

The DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) in the US makes it illegal to
circumvent DRM, including DVDs.
