You're supposed to see that everything is just properly set up in alsamixer.Now try to remember: when exactly did it stop working? Did you do something at that time? installing updates / messing around with the kernel/the sound configs etc.
Check this: lspci | grep AudioDo you have mechanical switch somewhere on your pc/notebook? Propably turned off?
