I did not choose it: the VPN I use is my university's VPN (so that I can  
access research papers, which require subscriptions, from outside the  
university).

My point was: you my need to install packages that are in Trisquel's  
repository but not part of the default install. There is a package, absent  
from the default install, called "l2tp-ipsec-vpn"...
