Use a flash drive with another USB port? Then install from the live session  
to the hard drive (I think it's an option available in the installer).

And then (as I've nearly forgotten), pray that the laptop's capable of  
booting from a USB hard drive. Otherwise I hope someone here can clarify if  
Super Grub2 Disk is free software, and if it can be installed to an internal  
hard drive (I don't see why not but I haven't tried yet).
