Software with no DRM does not. DRM itself is pure evil and worth avoiding. I have to question the value of using GOG or Desura as a replacement for Steam though. Many Steam games do not appear in GOG or Desura's catalog, or at least that was the situation a handful of years ago. One may as well take another step and only play free software games.
