I have duplicated this error, with Enigmail from the trisquel repositories and the mozilla addons.
Seahorse also does not opens the generating key window after providing passphrase for generating new key, but the new key has been generated once you close and open the seahorse program again. Gpa has also failed to create a new key, failing with error related to GPGME library
