Some more updates: the issue of "--MORE-- Unknown key 0xFF detected." came  
back a long time ago but I was too lazy to report it here. I believe it might  
be caused by one of these: a) faulty hardware in my case, or b) the grub  
settings I use. I am not yet in a mood to investigate more. So far I have not  
heard of anybody else having this particular issue.
