Do you have the best channel, the one with least traffic? Note that the  
channels overlap. If there's lot of noise you might get that kind of results.

Probably you can set the transmission power in your router. However 2 meters  
sounds very little to me so I don't think that's it. Can you move the router  
around? Tried another router?
