It's caused by a strange way Firefox works: the PDF reader doesn't work  
unless you have JavaScript enabled (specifically, the way PDFs are displayed  
depends on a JavaScript file called "pdf.js" running, and Firefox for some  
reason doesn't treat this file as a special case).
