Here is what I did with some help from the libreboot chatroom:
IF you download the libreboot_r20160818_util tar,extract it, and go inside the folder, then go to flashrom directory with the terminal emulator...
then type make or sudo make or w/e and then everything should go extremely smoothly as per the instructions.
This method worked for me.
