Small word sizes don't become obsolete. In fact, there are computers that are still made today with the 8-bit Z80 CPU, most notably graphing calculators sold by Texas Instruments.

You might consider 32-bit ARM to be obsolete if there are no 32-bit ARM CPUs left available from manufacturers. That isn't going to happen any time soon, though. It's not something you should worry about.
