To find out which panel you have without opening the laptop just install the  
package i2c-tools then run:

$ sudo modprobe i2c-dev
$ sudo i2cdump -y 2 0x50
If it doesn't produce valid output replace 2 with some other number (this is  
based on the guide which appears at the Libreboot website which I provided a  
link to in the previous post).
