I was using GIMP for everything until two years ago, image manipulation and  
drawing with a graphic tablet. Now I use GIMP for image manipulation and  
Krita just for drawing, which has better brush engine and drawing tools.

Just depends what you are going to use it for. In case of doubt, use GIMP.
