It makes my dumb TV Think™ freely! I get an adapter with VGA and headphone jack on one end, and HDMI on the other end. This gets audio and video from my laptop to the TV.
Then, I install Kodi and whatever addons I want, like 3anime. Then, I set it to black my laptop's screen when Kodi's on, and to not go to sleep when my lid is closed. I close the lid, ignore the laptop, and the family uses Kodi on the TV with their phones after going to F-Droid and installing Kore. I'm looking for some old Wiimotes for me to use... Kodi has its own login, so people can grab my laptop and switch to Kodi from the lock screen. At least, this is how it'd be if I still had Kodi installed. I haven't had to provide entertainment in a while, and I haven't had Kodi installed since my boyfriend broke up with me. I was on Trisquel 7 at the time, using Guix for Kodi and other packages.
