Are you sure the iso you used is free software and you have not added any piece of non free software? The package of software which makes ar9271 work is called 1.4.0-97-g75b3e59+dfsg-3 To get the usb ar9271 wifi to working I had to edit file /etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf into [main] plugins=ifupdown,keyfile [ifupdown] managed=false [device] wifi.scan-rand-mac-address=no
