When I used Ubuntu 14.04 LTS with Linux 4.4 LTS kernel, I did experienced  
similar problem (touchpad didn't response after resuming from suspension or  
hibernation). When I updated to Linux 4.9 LTS kernel later, the problem was  
solved.
