First, be sure that it is an ath9k-htc. The only problem with ath9k-htc is  
that it doesn't support MAC randomization, so I always need to create a  
hotspot first and then disable it before I could connect to any hotspot.

Also, internal (PCI/e) WLAN cards are always first choice, because ath5k/9k  
doesn't require any firmware. Even if your X200t still runs original  
firmware, there is still an Atheros card usable. It's an (albeit low-end)  
AR2425 card with Lenovo's FRU number 43Y6511.
