  Welcome to the TROM list.
You are right that the TROM book is a mental workout. It took me many
re-readings of the book to end up with a decent understanding of what Dennis
meant and how the games conditions work.
First, a GAME in TROM is only a condition of postulates in conflict where
the outcome is serious or emotional painful. This will be leg 1 "must be
known" versus leg 4 "must not know" or it will be leg 2 "must not be known"
versus leg 3 "must know".

The leg 1 versus leg 4 game could be the boy at leg 1 who wants the girl at
leg 4 to know him. The girl at leg 4 does not want to know the boy and does
not want him to be known. She wants him to go away (not be known) and leave
her alone (not know).

The Leg 2 versus Leg 3 game is the guy at leg 2 who failed as a leader while
in leg 1. He does not want to be a leader now. He does not want the person
at leg three to think of him as the leader. The person in leg 3 needs
someone to run a business and decides that since Leg 2 was a leader once he
can do it again.

I am still working on my understanding of the compulsive games condition
and voluntary games condition but here is my two cents on your question. To
the compulsive games player there must be a game for him to feel alive. A
fireman who is an adrenaline junky would consider a night spent in bed as a
disappointment. Going out on a call with siren screaming to save damsels in
distress from burning buildings is the dose of games he needs to make life
interesting.

The non-compulsive fireman on the other hand goes out each day and tests the
fire hydrants to make sure they are working. He does inspections of
businesses to make sure they are storing flammable materials safely. He
will see that weed abatement is done on vacant lots. To the non compulsive
fireman a night spent in bed because there were no fires is the indication
that he is doing his job properly. He takes satisfaction in doing his job
well and does not need a fire and an adrenaline rush to make him feel that
he is alive.

Even if you are only timebreaking what life restimulates you are still
TROMing,
Keep on TROMing

Subject: [TROM1] New to TROM

Hi,

A couple of years ago Martin Foster referred me to TROM. I had been looking
for an auditor for quite some time & had found only "trouble". Partly due
to this "trouble" my health deteriorated rapidly. It is only now that I
have been able to recover my health that I have started to read thru TROM.

It is quite a good workout for my brain! I am only still reading the Theory
section & just now I came across this statement -
The only liability to assuming causation is to run the being out of games 1

note1anc> Having no games is boring

I don't get this - for myself the zero source point of utter stillness &
wholeness is the most wonderful relief from "games" & not boring at all.
Perhaps I don't quite understand this "as yet" & I certainly am looking
forward to getting further into the application of TROM.
