Blaine: Judy is right to rely on faith in the Lord. I think this
question has merit, although I think she is right, it would be unusual
to happen. I did have a somewhat similar situation happen in the Air
Force. A redheaded bully type guy I was acquainted with in Basic
Training tried to pick a fight with a Jewish friend of mine. The
redhaired guy was a hood from LA who had been given the choice of either
going to jail or joining the Air Force. I impulsively told him to try
picking on someone his own size, even though I was a little smaller than
him. I somehow knew the Lord would protect me. He got red in the face,
then started in after me, but just before he got to me, several of his
friends grabbed him. They told him if he got into it with me, the TI
(Tactical Instructor--our NCOIC) would never believe I started it--of the
two of us, he had more of a reputation for fighting and losing his
temper, and I'd been a good Airman all along. (:>)
For some reason after that, he would never even look me in the eye.
And he stopped picking fights altogether. I could never figure this,
because he had trounced some guys bigger and badder than me in fights he
had provoked in the Showerroom. I went in there late one night and found
him and another guy fighting--both had knots on their heads as big as
cow's tits, and blood all over the place. He was definitely not afraid
to be in a fight. It was the influence of the spirit, I think, that
stopped him. Faith is sometimes what gives us courage to do things our
rational selves would stop us from doing. Emergency situations not
withstanding.
