DAVEH:  I'm a little reticent to post a reply to this, considering I've made my 
opinion known in the past.  I have previously mentioned a couple passages that lend 
support to my LDS biased believe in this matter.....1Pt 3:18-19 and 1Pt 4:6.  The 
Lord's
comment to the thief on the cross (to be with him in Paradise that day) would also 
lead one to believe in some kind of conscious spiritual existence prior to the 
resurrection.  And of course there are many other examples of dead folks having a 
spiritual
existence, including those today who relate their NDE (Near Death Experience) accounts.
