(I just did something rather scary --- I typed Mormon but left out the second "m" If you ever see that IT WAS A TYPE-O ).
Actually, John, there IS a character in the book of Mormon named Moron. See Ether 11:14ff. And of course, there is Moroni (plural of Moron? Italian for Moron?) Perhaps the use of Moron as a name was a practical joke JS wove into his novel called the Book of Mormon. And the book of Ether? He must have been running out of names. Then there is Jacob's brother...he has no name, but is referred to only as "Jacob's brother", although he is quite a prominent character in the BoM.
