You may want to re-consider rejecting the wisdom of the elders as a practice.  Otherwise, we are just adrift in the sea of our own prejudices, unrestrained by the great cloud of witnesses that went before us.  They left a great legacy, and we should be careful before rejecting it.  It seems vain to do so, since who are WE, compared to these great saints, many of whom paid for their truth in blood.
