During the 1990's North American Evangelicals collectively earned 800,000 billion dollars. They spent 8 billion on weight reduction and 2 billion on church giving.
The above does not account for Roman Catholic Christians nor those in the high church.
Yet, in the world outside North America, the Christian church is growing at the rate of nearly 3000 per hour. In China there are somewher between 50 and 75 million Christians meeting in the most dismal of condition. Total Christian population is close to 1.4 billion. Groups like JW's have and additional 15 million and Mormons weight in at 13 million.
In the US, 80 % of all Christian converts are children. In foreign countries, adult conversion runs 40% to 70 % depending on the country ( compared to no more than 20% in the US).
It is said that in the Mediterranian World , the first 100 years of the Early Chruch saw an explosion of converts - from near zero on the day before Pentecost, to 6 million by the end of the first 100 years.
