I received your response but it had that little  "J" thing.  Everything I open an email with that little guy on my in box listings,  it freezes up my machine.   I cannot even copy it over and write a new document.

So,  I am responding to the email you sent a few minutes ago.  I do not want to criticize your "indwelling" or "filling" experience.   I see that as a personal experience and, as such, I nor anyone else is qualified to critique the matter.

So, will speak of my experience, briefly, try to a make a point or two.

I believe that "spirit filling" and "baptism of the spirit" are the same thing  --  the same experience.   When Paul spoke of his "tongues" experience in terms of " my mind is unfruitful but my spirit is edified"  (or words to that effect),  he added an emotionally experience to the mix.   That emotion may express itself in a number of ways.   I normally leave my Bible study feeling lifted up and edified  -   FEELING that way, full of emotion  (appreciation, excitement, awe).   Last Sunday, the praise service was especially effective  -   and my experience on that occasion was one that included tears and an emotional awareness that can only be described as "filling."   I was, in deed, filled up to overflowing with th e emotion of praise and honor.  One of the songs stayed with me for most of the week.   So, I too receive a filling when I read and study.

On the trip to Jackson some months ago, with Bill Taylor,  well, there was a lot of filling going on there.  I received a "word from the Lord" through one of the preachers there.  He started sharing and in just a little while we both knew that he was doing the work of the Lord in my regard.   The emotion that comes with that realization is convincing and with great memory.  Our discussions  (Bill and I) produced the same exhilaration  -- a testimony of  the presence of the Spirit.   Faith upon faith.

I would just say that your experience with filling can have additional expressions  (an probably does)     Paul encouraged us to be filled with the Spirit as we sing and make music to the Lord  (Eph 5:19), for example.

JD I would seriously like to know what you think Jesus meant by His statement.  Iz

John 6:63
" It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life.

I always agree with Jesus.   It seems the appropriate thing to do.  I do not agree, however, with those who argue that such a statement means that His words and the Holy Spirit are the same thing.

JD, please answer this question.  Do you agree with Jesus that His words are Spirit? iz

I certainly do not equate the words of Christ with God The Spirit, that is for sure.

They work in sync John.  Where there is no Word the Spirit has nothing to work
with; too many words of men and no Spirit is the "dead letter" - Jesus called His
Words Spirit and Life, why don't you believe Him?
