The morning sacrifice appears to have represented Jesus Christ, who would come in the meridian of time, and the afternoon lamb might well have symbolized the Prophet Joseph Smith, who came in the latter days and did "more, save Jesus only, for the salvation of men in this world, than any other man that ever lived in it" (D&C 135:3).
