Thank you for the idea, but yes, the /etc/trytond.conf was always used, I 
made sure by checking the content of the start-script in /etc/init.d/ and 
the trytond-logfile.
After fiddling round for hours and installing all related python-packages 
like pyWebDav manually again, I managed to get trytond (user python) to 
listen on port 8078. I could connect by ssl (https) via browsers, but as 
soon as I clicked on one database and wanted to browse the subfolders (like 
Calendars, Contacts etc.) I got an error saying that the server ended the 
connection. The same thing happened accessing by lightning or the deeplink 
(./Calendars/calendar). First I was prompted to type in username and 
password (same as the db-users I used with the client). The user I used had 
all (reading and writing) rights granted on the calendar and the webdav 
module was also set up. 

Maybe someone has another idea on that subsequent problem. I will search 
for it too.
