That's free as in beer. . . I, being of sound mind and body, am giving away a Macintosh Performa 6214 computer to the first person who claims it. This is a circa-1995 Mac with all the trimmings. I am giving away the whole system as a single package, all or nothing.
The system includes: a PowerPC 603 processor running at 75 MHz 24 MB of memory (including the original 8 MB and a 16 MB card I installed) an internal IDE hard disk whose size I no longer remember, but big enough an internal CD-ROM player a 14in Apple monitor a SupraExpress 33.6 external modem Last time I tried it, which was last spring sometime, the system still worked fine. It is running Mac OS 8.something or other. It doesn't have much software. Last spring I unsuccessfully tried to install mtlinux on it with the help of Tyler Schmidt and other recognized Mac/Linux experts. I have no idea whether it will ever be possible to get this machine to run Linux. If you are interested, contact me. I will let the successful claimant know how to pick the machine up and email a followup letting the list know that the machine has been claimed. --Alan Garvey [EMAIL PROTECTED] ----------------------------------------------------------------- To get off this list, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with Subject: unsubscribe -----------------------------------------------------------------
