Since we are on the topic of what to buy, I would like to get myself a reasonably-priced (<= $50) sound card for a Linux system. I don't have high aspirations, I would just like to be able to play CDs/Oggs/MP3s and do a little recording on the microphone.
I don't mind compiling a kernel for support (I am in the habit of compiling my own kernels anyway) but would like it to have good driver support in a stock kernel.
