I'm having trouble logging into Linux Mandrake 9.1 with X. The login window lets me attempt to login as smfoy, and then displays my desktop background briefly before returning to the login window. I can login as root.
The machine recently suffered a power failure, but my HD partitions are using reiserfs (except swap). kernel: grsec: signal 11 sent to (mdkkdm_greet:62) UID (0) EUID(0), parent (mdkkdm:21287) UID(0) EUID(0) kernel: grsec: attempted resource overstep by requisting 4096 for RLIMIT_CORE against limit 0 by (mdkkdm_greet:62) UID(0) EUID(0), parent (mdkkdm:21287) UID(0) EUID(0) mdkkdm[21287]: Greeter exited unexpectedly mdkkdm[21287] Abnormal helper termination, code 0, signal 11 If I telinit 4 and then startx, I can have a normal X session as either root or smfoy. Can anyone help me research or resolve this problem?
