Spoke to Brian Behlendorf, and he clarified what [EMAIL PROTECTED]
is and why the EZMLM subscription mechanism doesn't apply to it.
Here's a paraphrase:
[EMAIL PROTECTED] isn't an EZMLM list; when a message goes to it, a
message is sent to every address "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" where "user" is each
individual in the "apcvs" group on daedalus. If someone has not set up
offsite forwarding for their [EMAIL PROTECTED] email, then their mail is
still on daedalus, in their ~/Mailbox file. They need to email
[EMAIL PROTECTED] to get a new password to get on the machine so they
can read that email, then preferably set up a .forward or .qmail file.
Commiters, please, PLEASE take measures to handle your
[commiter]@apache.org email account. This is a responsibility that
goes hand in hand with your commiter status. :)
I handle mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a .qmail file which directs
messages to another account (much a like a sendmail-esque .forward
file):
dlr@daedalus:dlr$ cat .qmail
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
PASSWORDS AND PUBIC KEYS ON APACHE.ORG WERE WIPED (as you'd know had
you been watching your [EMAIL PROTECTED] email ;). I have sent
mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] for those of you who responded to my previous
email, requesting that new temporary passwords or installation of SSH
keys. The following existing commiters were mentioned in my email,
and I have verified to be in the "apcvs" group which receives
commiters@ email:
John Thorhauer
Ilkka Priha
Jeffrey D. Brekke
I have also requested new accounts for the following developers
(as defined at http://jakarta.apache.org/site/roles.html):
Eric Dobbs
Dave Polito
Henning P . Schmiedehausen
The developers mentioned should expect mail within the week (could be
sooner). If no mail is forthcoming, mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] directly,
citing this email. Those commiters not mentioned above who still
don't have access should mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] own their own.
Thanks to everyone for making the ASF great!
Daniel Rall
