Well, we don't even know what the next MAJOR release will be
called. Turbine-2, Turbine-3, Plexus, Turbine-NG, whatever. Or on what
code base it will be working. All I want ATM is stopping people to
rush stuff preliminary and create a situation as we had right
post-2.1. It took quite a white to get a working 2.2 out of the
door. And we had Fulcrum and Turbine-3 split off in the meantime which
(till today) did get nowhere.

So this doesn't really give me sleepless nights. Ripping out perfectly
good working stuff like configuration just because "there is something
else we could use" does.
