Last time I took a look at the source code, there was a comment about
eventually implementing this functionality.  As for now the file system
is used to swap elements in and out of memory when the cache max sizes
are reached.  I will probably need this functionality for my project and
will have to look into implementing.

Again the topic of shutdown and start of an application using jcs. I use
jcs in
a webapplication. When I kick the servlet container (resin or tomcat),
the key file
has not been written to disk thus the application cannot retrieve the
keys
during the next startup thus my cached content is gone. Is there a
solution
to this problem? Maybe some key-auto-saving functionality?
