Stephane,
        Looks like we had damn near the same exact ideas!  That is exactly
what the maven console plugin does (more or less).  I have added the
exception handling, listing goals, and a '!!' function which mimics the
last goal.  Some more enhancements to come soon are sorting of available
goals, regexp matching on listing goals (i.e. list java*) to get all java
goals, elapsed time for goals, and switching projects in the console.
