Thanks for the response. I am not sure how to get to your post. The web archives off of the Jakarta site seem to be a little broken ? The last post from this list there (that isn't a broken link ?) seems to be Nov 4th ? In any event, I was able to solve the connection problem by 'defaulting' all of the database properties ... and after much trial and tribulation ... I got past the null connection issue. Moving on from there ... I am doing a basic query against one of the tables in my DB by doing a Criteria() fetch against the primary key column. I ultimately end up crapping out with an NPE in the constructor for BigDecimal while "fetching records" and "creating values". ideas, thoughts, musings ...
