I've never moved code, but we've always used JBoss from day 1. Just get it. It is just as free and significantly more powerful. It is not as integrated with IDE debuggers as Tomcat seems to be, but I've been using it with Eclipse for quite a while. Turns out to be fairly easy, since JBoss is written entirely in Java.
