Hello!
is the project turbine still active? we use turbine since 2.2, migrated
to 2.3 and for me it seemed
that turbine wasn't very active since 2.3. the development of 3 is going
since 2003 i think but today
i cannot find any information regarding turbine 3 on the website. was
turbine 3 cancelled in favor
of 2.4, is turbine 2.4 scheduled to be finished in 2007? could the
effort of creating a 'Documentation to
promote turbine' be seen as an indicator that 2.4 is soon to be finished?
another question: how difficult will it be to migrate from 2.3 to 2.4?
migrating from 2.2 to 2.3 was
not very easy even though there are a short howto located in the turbine
wiki.
however, a good, accurate and up-to-date documentation is a very good idea.

Hi Jürgen and all,
Few quick questions about release 2.4M2 after a quick overview. Please
correct me if I am wrong.
The big changes seem to be:
- "RunData" replace by "ServerData"
- "Backported the Pipeline from Turbine 3 to Turbine 2.4"
- "dir /extensions change to removes all the nasty logic required to
code generate the torque objects"
- "The cache, crypto, localization, intake, factory, and mimetype
services have now been deprecated in favor of the Fulcrum versions as well."
- "DirectResponseLayout"
When I started to look at class org.apache.turbine.util.ServerData, the
changes have been made in Dec 2004!! 2 years old! I am just surprising
and don't really understand why it takes so long. I don't know the
history of turbine but I will really appreciate some explainations by
anyone!
Then my second and last question for today will be who is still working
on 2.4? Probably the active users in
http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/TRB? Also what is the difference
between M1 and M2
http://jakarta.apache.org/turbine/turbine/turbine-2.4-M1/changes-report.html
Do we have a
http://jakarta.apache.org/turbine/turbine/turbine-2.4-M2/changes-report.html
Best Regards,
Thomas
PS: last remark, the release doc
(http://jakarta.apache.org/turbine/turbine/turbine-2.4-M1/index.html) is
really out of date!
