I'm convinced that Turbine is going to be a great product. The TDK
is just super simple to install and get rolling with. All the coders
are doing a great job contributing.
However, I'm finding it really hard to find documentation on how it
all snaps together. I know that there has been some talk about a
sample application going into the TDK, but I can't find anything in
CVS other than the samples/ tree that has been discussed - most of
which is dead.
Am I just missing most of the doucmentation? I mean, the javadocs
are good, but the Getting Started guide is a little thin. The
users/roles/permissions architecture looks like it's supposed to be
really good, but how do I log a user in? How do I authenticate them
against the database? How in my application do I verify their
permissions?
I know that there is a database connection pool created when Turbine
starts, but how do I obtain a connection handle from that pool? Do I
get a standard JDBC Connection object that I can talk to? Or is the
use of Peers (whose documentation is also thin) what I have to use?
I apologize for not asking a specific question, but I've been lurking
for a couple of months, trying to get started, trying to understand
how the Scarab sandbox works, but there's just very little
documentation.
I would love to help put together some of this documentation, but
unfortunately, I'm not really "on the inside" on Turbine to
understand how evertyhing works to be able to produce it. Am I just
missing a gold mine of good information?
Again, sorry I didn't have a more specific question, but I can't
really seem to figure out how to get started with it all. If I'm the
only person having this problem, let me know, and I'll continue
trying to get it all to make sense.
