I am also basically new to Turbine - actually, been following the maillist
for ~1 year but never coded using it until recently - but I was able to get
a working demo.
Are you using the TDK? It will create demo apps for you. In addition to a
"Hello World" app, you can also have it create a database-backed (aka
"peer") application. The peer app was enough to get me started writing my
own peer application! I can attest that the Turbine-website's instructions
are accurate for creating a "simple" application. The instructions for the
peer app got me about 80% of the way there, but the maillist assisted me in
getting the demo-peer-app running (in my case, I was using HypersonicSQL
while the demo app needs MySQL).
I would be happy to assist (as best I can) in getting you as far as I have
gotten myself. Otherwise, simply send me a direct email, and I will zip up
my turbine directory and send it to you - but I strongly urge you to pesue
creating the demo app yourself as you learn much while looking for what is
"broken".
