#2102: remove crud command?

I'm not sure how much value the crud command provides, but it has become
unmaintained, and we need to do something about it -- either commit to
maintianing it and get it up to speed with the latest sprox, or remove it.
There are also docs which use it that need to be removed if we go that
direction.
