For getting packages into Fedora Core it is a "big deal", I think, if
people have been making inclusion requests in Bugzilla:

I assume it doesn't hurt for Fedora Extras either.
The next Fedora Core release and associated "Extras" was scheduled for
early February last I looked. Which is comfortably after the like
release date for TG 1.0. Though I don't think there is any cutoff date
for Extras.
Inclusion of 1.0 in extras would be great exposure.
