I agree. Stan is one of the big things that turned me off from Nevow.
Then apparently you didn't look very hard at it! Stan is an option, but so is an XML templating language and whatever else you want to hook in. Nothing in Nevow really encourages or requires usage of Stan.
That could be. When I looked at it, Stan was one of the features that the Nevow folks were emphasizing, and I took that to mean that its use was recommended. It wasn't the only reason I didn't like Nevow, but it was one of them.
