I'm in a similar situation with tg-admin toolbox at the moment. I removed py:extends="'master.kid'" from turbogears/toolbox/main.kid and re-ran tg-admin toolbox.... and it worked (but with no CSS).
I'll give it a try under Linux shortly and post my findings!
