Ahh, OK. Superficially, they're similar in that you choose when you
wish to read and messages are grouped together in threads, but you're
right that decent forum software has a number of features beyond
googlegroups.

This is true. I do think that this is the reason that quite a few
folks choose to read through an interface other than mail.
