Ed, what problems are you running into? I've used identity in async calls before, and it all "just worked". The call to the controller is a real "request" as far as turbogears is concerned, and so you have full access to any identity and visit information inside of the controller. Nothing special is needed on the browser side, either, as the browser should just pass on the visit cookie to the server as needed.
