Truth be told, I was never really gone. I've been very active in
TurboGears-related things: completing and releasing the DVD (and the
ever-important, if underdocumented MarbleGears), preparing for 3
separate sessions at EuroPython (including making SQLAlchemy support
work smoothly), and completing the main portion of my work on the
TurboGears book. The book is not yet 100% complete, but it's rapidly
getting there. Within a couple of weeks, Mark and I will be
completely into review/edit.

These big, time consuming things are now off my plate. And, I no
longer have to worry about putting food on the table. That means that
I'm finally able to get back to TurboGears strictly on the terms of a
large, thriving open source project.

I want to open things up for a lot more collaboration, because I
think there are a lot of people out there who would like to help out
with various things. My immediate first priority is to fix the couple
of niggling problems we have that prevent us from using Docudo for
our documentation. Once Docudo (and our documentation files) are
fixed, we'll be able to easily accept help on the official docs from
all of the people who have offered help. This needs to happen very
soon, because it's the real blocker for TG 1.0. ("If it's not
documented, it doesn't exist!")

Second, Elvelind Grandin has agreed to take on the role of "release
manager" for TurboGears. Once we work out the process, he'll handle
the mechanics of getting a release put together and out the door.
He'll also generally be the one to make the call as to when minor
releases are issued. Thanks, Elvelind!

Finally, the marketing materials on the site are way out of date (in
1.0 terms) and don't emphasize the things we need to emphasize now.
This group has nearly 2,000 members, and I'm very certain that I'm
not the only one among us with marketing ideas. If you're interested
in helping out with the marketing (in nearly any capacity), please
email me privately and we'll talk further. If you have marketing
ideas but aren't looking to take an active role in pulling them
together, you can send them to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Now is definitely the time to get 1.0 out the door. Bruce Eckel's
recent positive blog posting about TurboGears is the tip of the
iceberg. There are a couple of press mentions of TG that should be
landing soon, so stay tuned.
