Add me on the list of happy VPS users. My VPS is a testbed hell for my
projects and host my personal blog/site, TG apps, SVN/Trac service....
It's pretty packed :P

I use the lowest plan here:
http://rimuhosting.com/order/startorder1.jsp?type=18

19,95 - 2,00 because I use the VPS for FOSS hosting/development, with
96 M RAM and 4G HD. They're pretty fast on the support and I know some
of the admins, REAL admins.

The only problem is that with 96 M and apache/mysql running, I swap a
lot, but well, it's not the end of the world (yet).

As Iain pointed on another list message, having your own configuration
and environment setup close to the one on your dev machine is _very_
nice. Your own tools, own rules... Well, it's said that you're not a
true nerd until you get your VPS somewhere :)

On the security point of view, keeping a linux box 'safe' those days
is not very hard, just follow the common procedures and don't let any
fancy doors open. Keep your system updated (I use Debian and Ubuntu
Server, they're pretty good on the update stuff) and everything is
going to be ok :)
