I also have another similar Validator that checks for the uniqueness of a given model attribute value. The problem with such a validator is that e.g. in a user profile editing form, you want to allow the user e.g. changing his email address but you want to check if that email address is already used by someone else. But if the user doesn't change his email address, you don't want to complain when the email address given in the form values is already in the database (for that user).
