Well... I for one still don't like it, because I see it as hijacking a mailinglist without contributing to it yourself. Not in the many years that I have been on mailing lists have I ever seen a message such as your initial one. This isn't a job application forum, so in order for Florence to get over himself, and me for that matter, YOU need to cut out the job application crap. In my humble opinion.
